Obituary of Reynaldo Diego Reyes

Reynaldo "Diego" Reyes

AKA "Vern"

May 25, 1945 - February 2, 2024

De Loveland, CO died peacefully Friday, February 2, 2024 in Loveland, CO at his home of natural causes.

Born May 25, 1945 in Loveland, CO to Jose Galvan and Anita (Zubia) Reyes, and deemed to be an angler from his youth. He eluded the grueling demands of agricultural labor for those of a more lustrous Paperboy route, and thus able to scout more ample fishing and swimming holes.  After High School he enthusiastically volunteered to Enlist in the US Navy, thus serving during the Vietnam campaign, he served honorably for 5 years from 1965-70.  Upon service he resided in California, Kansas, and Wyoming professionally undertaking skilled trades as a biker, butcher and barber, successfully following the later for many decades to follow. A devout Dallas Cowboy fan, he consistently celebrated blue and silver touchdown points with his trademark "gym" routine. (Known few to none, it was rumored to be his secret mojo towards happiness.)

Returning home to Loveland he was known as a devout servant of the Lord, his family, friends, Cowboys and fishing!  Never afar from adept grounds of plentiful fish and or a cruise to visit his gente', he was at peace. Surrounded by family and friends in his beautiful home state he spent his days content and carefree giving all his support those he loved.

Best portrayed by Larry McMurtry's Lonesome Dove character Joshua Deets, inspired by Bose Ikard, a longtime cowboy and friend of Charles Goodnight... "Cheerful in all weather, never shirked a task, splendid behavior."

He is survived by his siblings Ramiro, Pablo, Annabel, Mary, Oreileia, Alonzo, Suelema, y Pradelia; his two children, Reynaldo Diego Reyes II of Loveland, CO and Renae Stevens of Altamont, IA; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; AND NUMEROUS NEPHEWS, NIECES y PRIMOS!

He was preceded in death by his parents Jose Galvan Reyes y Anita Soto Zubia, an infant brother Ramio and three sisters Graciela, Minerva y Silvia.
