Obituary of Daniel Hugh Hurt

Daniel "Boone" Hugh Hurt, born March 8, 1947 to Charles David Hurt and Dorothy McNutt Hurt in Murray, Kentucky, passed away January 30, 2024 at the age of 76. 

Daniel lived a life full of adventure with a great love for the outdoors. After graduating from the University of South Alabama, Dan pursued a career with the U.S. Department of Interior, where he was devoted to the preservation of the environment and enforcement of the Endangered Species Act, as well as the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. His devotion to his career was unwavering. Dan enjoyed wildlife photography, bird watching, decoy carving, and visiting our beautiful national parks. 

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, and is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy Hurt, daughter Christina Hurt, sister Lois Fortenberry, and numerous extended family members. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
