Obituary of James Jeffery Lutz

Jim grew up in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, where he was active in church choir, student government, and sports, lettering in high school basketball, cross country, and golf. In 1962 he enlisted in the US Navy and trained in anti-submarine warfare as a sonar technician, attaining the rank of E-5. He served on three different destroyers (Leary, Steinaker, and Laffey). Honorably discharged in 1966, Jim entered the University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee, earning his Bachelor of Arts in 1970. On October 25, 1968, he wed Catherine (Kay) Ann Costello of Shorewood, Wisconsin. After graduation, he began a long and distinguished 30-year career in hospital medical/surgical and laboratory supply sales and distribution based largely in Colorado, retiring in 2003 from Fisher Scientific, Healthcare Division. Jim was a member of Loveland’s St. John the Evangelist parish and Big Thompson Knights of Columbus 3434. He loved golf, travel, the outdoors, and cooking. Jim is survived by his wife of 55 years Kay (Costello), daughter Maureen, and preceded in death by his son Jon and parents Richard and Adrienne (Jeffery) Lutz, and brother Richard.
