Obituary of George Armstrong Geer

George Armstrong Geer, 102, of Fort Collins, CO joined his loving family in Heaven on December 20, 2023.  He was born November 28, 1921, to Martha Armstrong Geer and George Geer at home in Leavenworth, KS.

He lived in Leavenworth, KS until enlisting in the United States Army Air Corp in October 1942.  He was a Private First Class.  His heart’s desire was to fly.  After WWII ended, he had an Honorable Discharge in February 1946.

After returning home, he met and married Alice Irene Anderson on November 30, 1946.  He was a Journeyman Electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 124 for 75 years.  He and Alice owned two Beauty Shops in Overland Park and Shawnee, KS.  They were also part owner of KCQ Family Billiards in Kansas City, KS.  They very much enjoyed traveling by RV spending winters in Texas and Arizona.  Cruising was also a favorite to places like the Caribbean, Alaska, Panama Canal, and New Zealand.  They celebrated 67 years of marriage until Alice, the love of his life, passed away in March 2014.

George was also preceded in death by his father George Geer, his mother Martha Armstrong Ackerbloom, his stepfather Harry Ackerbloom, his very close Aunt Mary Armstrong, his much-loved son-in-law James V. Parrott and his beloved dog Misty.

George is survived by his daughter Sharon K. Parrott of Fort Collins, grandsons Jeffrey J. Parrott (Krysti) of Loveland, and Jason A. Parrott (Jaime) of Johnstown, and great-grandchildren Alyssa Valdez, Austin Parrott, Maxx Parrott, and Macey Parrott.

George was able to remain in his own home in the Sunflower Adult Community until a week before his passing.  He always loved fishing, baseball and playing poker twice a week at the clubhouse with his friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a date to be determined.
