Dorothy Draper

Obituary of Dorothy Jean Draper

Dorothy, who went by Jeanie, passed away in her sleep November 12, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Jeanie was born to Willard and Mary Euler in Boulder, CO.  Jeanie was married in 1950 to her first husband Ivan Schmidt in Globeville, CO.

Jeanie had five children, Gary Schmidt (deceased), Eddie Schmidt, Barry Schmidt, Sherry Decker, and Debra Smith (Randy).

Jeanie was a very social person, she adored visiting with friends and family, and hosted many social gatherings over the years.  She enjoyed true beauty along with the finer things in life and loved an excuse to get dressed up. Jeanie was the definition of “shop until you drop” and could spend hours in the flower nursery as she spent much of her day keeping her garden flawless.  Jeanie lived for the holiday season; she would decorate the entire month of November to prepare for Christmas.  Jeanie had a true eye for aesthetics and donated much of her time decorating the local SDA churches including Fort Collins, Loveland, and Campion.

Jeanie also spent many years working as a Rodeo Secretary and had the honor of record keeping/payouts for many large rodeos, the Greeley Stampede being one of those honors.  She loved traveling to all the different states while working for Alsbaugh Rodeo company.  Jeanie spent a considerable amount of time working in retail, managing various western stores including Sheplers where she tells the story of how she met Baxter Black while promoting his first book.

Jeanie married Richard Draper June 26, 1994 and shortly after moved to Fort Collins, CO. Jeanie and Richard were very proud members of the SDA church and donated many hours volunteering their time back as they got great pleasure from the fellowship obtained within.  Jeanie truly loved Jesus and devoted many hours to prayer up until her last breath.  Jeanie was a diamond, beautiful in every way, she will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.
