Shelby Morales

Obituary of Shelby Kathleen Morales

It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Shelby Kathleen Morales (née Swanson), who was called home on November 6, 2023, born on the 15th of April, 1992. Known for her uplifting spirit and relentless optimism, Shelby was a beacon of light and the life of every party she attended. Ambitious, loving, always smiling, and forever laughing, she touched countless lives with her love and understanding.

She is survived by her mother Sheila Swanson, her father Jeff Swanson, her brothers Jeffrey and Sean Swanson, and their wives Kayla Cothrun and Rae Swanson, respectively. She is also survived by her aunts, Jodi Jantzer and Kathie Swanson, her uncle Carl Swanson, one niece and three nephews, husband Josh Morales, their sons, Maverick and Levi Morales.

Shelby began her journey in life graduating from Skyline High School in 2010 and then pursuing Political Sciences at Colorado State University, graduating in 2014. She was an active member of her community and faith, regularly attending Flatirons Church. An avid sports enthusiast, Shelby not only supported teams like the Sharks, Broncos, and the Jets, she was also a prominent volleyball player at NORCO Volleyball club and later a coach at Premier Volleyball Club, and received a scholarship to Otero Junior College for her talents and skill as a volleyball player before transferring to CSU Fort Collins.

Outside her professional and sporting life, Shelby had a deep love for being outside and nature. She adored the mountains and the ocean far apart as they may be.  She was a fan of Nicholas Sparks and Jodi Picoult and regularly sought wisdom from the Bible. She had a great palate and enjoyed the finer tastes of food, with prime rib, sushi, lobster, quiche, and cheesecake being her favorites. She loved taking walks with her pet Betsy, engaging in adult coloring books, and camping with her family. However, nothing brought her more joy than playing with her children.

A business owner and a nurturing mother, Shelby's accomplishments are matched only by her undying spirit and the love she extended to those around her. She truly saw the best in everyone.

In celebration of her dazzling life and spirit, a service will be held at 11:00 AM, Nov 16, 2023, at the Flatirons Community Church Longmont Campus. Doors open at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, a fund has been set up in her name to support her children, Maverick and Levi at https://everloved.com/life-of…

Shelby's legacy of love, understanding, and seeing the best in everyone will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
