Obituary of Brenda Lee Mugno

Brenda Lee Rebecca Dye Mugno, a Loveland resident since she fell in love with the state in 1983, passed away peacefully from Covid on November 12, 2023, after a long, heroic battle with multiple health issues over many years. 

     She was born in Lansing, Michigan on September 14, 1959, to Professor James L. Dye and Angeline Dye. She traveled and spent time with her family in multiple countries throughout her childhood, and was also a high school cheerleader. Her core group of friends had a true sisterhood: they remained extremely close throughout her entire life, meeting up regularly and staying in touch through the decades and miles. She graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in education.

     Brenda really loved watching sports, especially her Denver Broncos and her alma mater MSU teams which she supported and jubilantly cheered for, no matter how their seasons went. She also enjoyed doing puzzles, playing games, gardening, cooking incredible food, and laying with her face in the sun any chance she got. Her true passion was music-she was a beloved piano and music teacher, spreading her love and expertise to hundreds of students and families, including a few of her own children that now have careers in music and the performing arts. 

    She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Dr. James Dye. She is survived by her mother, Angeline Dye, and sister Roberta Tanner (Hugh), of Longmont, Colorado; brother Tom Dye (Sandra) of Austin, Texas; multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, and many very close dear friends. She is also survived by her six children: Nicoletta Glantz (Dan), James Mugno, Breanna Mugno, Brittena Bartlett (Isaac), and Joel Dye, all of Loveland; and Amorita Mugno, of Hudson, Florida. She also leaves behind her 5 precious grandchildren: Natalie, Anthony, Giovanni, Celia, and Daisy. 

     All who knew Brenda remember that she was always smiling! Even as her dementia progressed, she always had hugs, smiles, and dances for not just every member of her family, but the doctors and medical staff who cared for her. Throughout her adult life, she always sought to make holidays and birthdays extravagantly special, and would be so honored to know her children have continued that with their own families. She will be greatly missed and we are grateful for the memories that we will always cherish in our hearts.  

     A service to remember and honor Brenda and celebrate her beautiful life will take place Friday, December 1, at 2pm, at First Congregational Church in Loveland (800 N Lincoln Ave.)
