Obituary of Floyd Junior Wilkerson

Floyd Junior Wilkerson, departed this life at the age of 70, on Sunday, October 29th, 2023 in Fort Collins, Colorado.

He was born on December 28th, 1952 in Scottsville, Kentucky to his parents Robert and Rennie Wilkerson. He was known earlier in life as “June Bug”, and anybody that knew him knew he was the biggest mama’s boy as well. Later in life he earned the nickname "Papa" from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He always brought love, laughter and lightheartedness to any room, even at the darkest hours. He had the ability to make the hardest, heaviest situations in life feel a little lighter. He could make friends with his enemies and had one of the best sense of humor. His kindness and thoughtfulness earned his place in the hearts of many.

His career started in the United States Air Forces, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, in 1971. After his service, he studied at Vol State College in Nashville, TN, and at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, WY. He would earn his Criminal Justice, and Certificates in Welding, fabrication, and Heavy Equipment Construction. He worked Civil Service and Federal Jobs as well as at Hospitals as a Boiler Mechanic. He also earned his diploma at Cheyenne Aerotech for Airplane and Airframe, Powerplant Mechanic.

His most important job was to be a Vessel of The Lord and to spread the Word of Truth. He was passionate about Jesus, and he was a very anointed evangelist. He was always so excited about The Word he was spreading during a sermon; he had been known to kick off his shoes across the sanctuary. Two things he taught us were to always learn and to love.

Floyd is survived by his wife; Deborah Wilkerson and three children: Rena Wilkerson of Fort Collins, John Wilkerson of Nashville, TN, and Gena Andrus (Troy) of Fort Collins, CO. He has 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sisters; Sarah Calvert (Frankie), Ruby Witcher, Jimmie Walker (Doyle) and brother Lloyd Wilkerson.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters; Mary Calvert (Donald) and Era Berry (Cotton).

He was a loyal, dedicated, and hard- working son, husband, brother, father, grandfather, friend, and most importantly, child of God. He is truly irreplaceable and will be deeply missed by many.
