Nathan Holstege

Obituary of Nathan Mark Holstege

Nathan Holstege departed from this valley of tears and went to be with his Lord early in the morning of October 19, 2023. A beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, Nate was taken into heavenly glory after a brief battle with cancer at 38 years old.

Nate was born on March 5, 1985, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Jim and Kathi Holstege. He grew up working on his father’s celery farm, attended Christian schools, and was a lifelong member of the Protestant Reformed Churches in America. A few years after high school, he moved to Loveland, CO where he met the love of his life, Sarah Griess. They were married on December 23, 2008 and were blessed with four beautiful children, Ella (13), Wyatt (12), Willa (9), and Harrison (7). Nate became well known in the greater Loveland/Fort Collins area by building his own real estate business.

Nate was raised in a Christian home, had a deep faith in Jesus Christ, and strove to raise his children in the faith. He was an active member of his church and a loyal supporter of the Christian school where his children attend. Nate was loved by many for his great sense of humor, love for people, strong work ethic, and big personality. He will be greatly missed.

Nate is survived by his wife Sarah; his four children, Ella, Wyatt, Willa, and Harrison; his parents, Jim and Kathi Holstege; his siblings, Dan and Leah Holstege, Lynn and John Kalsbeek, and Joe and Lisa Holstege; his parents-in-law, Glen and Twyla Griess; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Jessica and Jason Scritchfield, Luke and Erin Griess, Liz and Tim Thompson, and Ashley and Kelsey VanBemmel; two grandparents, Marcia Holstege and Duke (and Ruth) VanDenBerg; and many nephews and nieces.

A funeral service will held at the Loveland Protestant Reformed Church (707 E. 57th Street, Loveland, CO 80538) at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 25. Prof. Cory Griess will officiate. There will be a time for visitation before the funeral, beginning at 9:30. A graveside service will follow after the lunch for family and friends at Loveland Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Sarah and their children can be sent to Viegut Funeral Home (1616 N. Lincoln Ave, Loveland, CO 80538).
