Doug Barbee

Obituary of Doug Barbee

Doug Barbee (84) passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, April 10, 2023 in the company of his family. Doug was born in Denver, Colorado to Floyd and Mae (Fells) Barbee in 1939. He graduated from Denver’s West High School, where he met his future wife Estelle. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Air National Guard during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After his military service, he went to work for Public Service Company and the family relocated to Evergreen and then to Idaho Springs. Doug and Estelle moved to Loveland in 1999 when Doug took a job as the regional manager for the Colorado Department of Revenue driver’s license division for northern Colorado.

Doug was active in the Masonic Lodge and the Elks Club in Idaho Springs, and he and Estelle enjoyed riding their Gold Wing motorcycle to many events across the United States. After a near fatal motorcycle accident, they swapped their love of motorcycling for a classic truck, enjoying the camaraderie of friends at local car shows. Doug and Estelle also enjoyed vacationing in their RV; traveling throughout Colorado and Wyoming.

Doug was preceded in death by Estelle, his wife of 64 years. He is survived by their sons Earl (Melissa) of Loveland, and Greg (Julianna) of Espanola, NM.
