Obituary of James Edward Fisher

James “Mountain Jim” Edward Fisher, died peacefully on February 18th , 2023 at the age of 67. Jim was born on August 5th, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan to Helen Averille and Claude Marvin Fisher, the sixth of their seven children. He attended Brown City schools and Central Michigan University. Jim served in the U.S. Air Force from 1978 to 1990, flying as an Electronic Warfare Officer in the EF-111 Aircraft. After his time in the Air Force, he decided to make a career change and got his nursing degree, working as a nurse for the next 25 years.

 

Jim loved to travel and lived in many places during his adult life, but his favorite was his last, and chosen location, Estes Park, CO. He loved the mountains, lakes, wildlife and breweries, experiencing it all to the fullest with his significant other, Ellen Allen, who was instrumental in caring for him in the years following a severe stroke. He summitted several of Colorado’s famous 14’ers, searched for wild mushrooms across the world, and attended blues and beer festivals whenever the opportunity arose.

 

Jim is survived by his children, Lukas and Kelley; his significant other Ellen Allen; his ex-wife Julie Resheske; his siblings and their spouses – Bob Fisher, Colleen (Richard) Peura, John (Jeanie) Fisher, Ardie (Linda) Fisher, Lynn (Larry) Czap, and Curtis Fisher; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

 

Cremation has taken place and there will be private family services at a later date.
