Obituary of Patricia Ann Ainsworth

When reflecting on the life of Patti, all you have to do is listen to the songs she mentioned frequently:

“I Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool” and “My Give-A-Damn’s Busted”

Born in Manhattan, New York, Patti learned from an early age that she would need to rely on her wits, grit and tenacity to survive. Right up to the very end of her life, Patti demonstrated this time and time again.

As a child she lived on a ranch, sheared sheep, rode her beloved horse Boots, and played the accordion like the true Italian she was. She was very proud of her heritage as her people came from the border of Austria and Italy, making her a Tyrol.

Her formative years were spent in Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota, where in Spearfish, she met the love of her life, Donnie. They were playmates as children and wed as teen sweethearts. Donnie took her on many adventures, once moving far away from the country life she knew.

She ran a preschool, a restaurant, and modeled. She was a health and wellness coach and enjoyed karate. She loved to dance and was a regular at the Sundance in Fort Collins for many years. She wrote poetry and sang, she was an excellent artist and loved to cook.

Her life took many twists and turns. Some were more difficult than others. Her sweet Shih Tzu, Boots, was by her side in Colorado for many of those hard times, and besides her loss of Donnie, losing Boots was something she never really recovered from. Her love for horses and animals drove her volunteer work, and she was riding horses just months before she flew away.

She was a Christian and attended church in the Fort Collins and Loveland areas for many years. One book that she found to be comforting was “ Hinds Feet on High Places”. It is the hope that like the character Much-Afraid, the stones she carried are now transformed into a jeweled crown, looking down from the Great Waterfall of Love.
