Obituary of Kenneth Dale Keeler

Funeral services for 84-year-old Kenneth Dale Keeler of Loveland, CO will be held at 1 p.m.  on Friday, February 17, 2023, at God's Country Cowboy Church, 5505 W. Eisenhower Blvd, Loveland, CO 80538.  Ken went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 6, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Born to Clifford and Althea Keeler in upstate New York, his parents farmed and his mother taught in a one-room schoolhouse.  His parents were also migrant workers.  Ken spent his young childhood traveling as his parents followed the harvest of crops in the southeastern US.

Ken married Cherie Ann Thomann in 1960.  He was accepted into an apprenticeship program with Toledo Scale and then went to work for Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY.

Eastman Kodak transferred Ken and Cherie to Colorado in 1970 and they settled in Loveland.  When Kodak offered Ken an early retirement, Ken jumped at the chance to spend more time with his family and in his community.  He spent countless hours investing into Loveland as a volunteer driver for SAINTS, building sets for community musicals, and creating programs in the community to feed the homeless.

Ken loved the outdoors and was an excellent fly-fisherman and hunter.  He was an advanced woodworker, making furniture and toys as gifts for his family and friends.   He was known for his kindness, his dry sense of humor and his unshakable faith in Jesus. His book “Never Pee on an Electric Fence”, a collection of short stories from his childhood growing up in upstate New York, was published in 2019.

Ken was deeply devoted to the Loveland Lions Club and was a 28-year member.  He was active in the club until the end of his life. He was also a 50-year Masonic Lodge Member and a lifelong member of First Christian Church.

He is survived by son Dan Keeler, Loveland, CO; daughter Dawn (Robert) Todd, Loveland, CO; grandchildren Holly (Mike) Day of Spearfish SD; Kelly (Zack) Hatcher of Longmont, CO; Ashley Hander of Denver, CO; Jordan (Shawn) Robertson of West Point, NY and Orenda Halvorsen of Denver, CO.
