Obituary of Suzan Lynn Waits

Suzan Lynn Waits (O’Donnell, Bittler, Cox), 78, of Longmont passed away Saturday, December 31, 2022.  She was loved by all who knew her.

Suzan was born on July 12, 1944, in Conneaut, Ohio, the daughter of Vincent Lyman O’Donnell and Betty Jane Russell.

Suzan graduated from Rowe High School in 1962 and continued her studies at a vocational school in Springfield, Pennsylvania.

Suzan met Ralph Edward Cox at church and went on to marry him on September 11, 1964.   Together they had two beautiful children.  Daniel Cox and Lisa Bicknell (Peter).  Unfortunately, Ralph Edward Cox died very young of cancer on May 22, 1969.

Soon after the passing of her first husband, Suzan moved to Boulder, Colorado with her two young children.  She bought a house in Boulder, but decided the city was too busy to raise her children.  She purchased a piece of property in rural Longmont, Colorado and built a house where she lived until her death.

One day in 1973, Suzan received a knock at the door from a gentleman who was looking for a good woman.  That man was Roland “Ron” Lee Waits and she fell head over heels in love with him.  Ron also had two beautiful children, Ronda Waits (Morey) and Roland Waits (Karin).  They united in marriage on June 16, 1974.  Ron sold his house in Arvada and used the funds to build an addition onto Suzan’s house after they welcomed their fifth child into the family, Jessica Adler.  Ron preceded Suzan in death on October 22, 2021.

Suzan was a loving and dedicated mother to 5 children, grandmother to 12 grandchildren, and great-grandmother to 8 great-grandchildren.  She enjoyed gardening, especially tending to a variety of roses.

Suzan was preceded in death by her parents, sister Colleen Bender, brother George Bittler, both husbands and one granddaughter, Amanda Dufford.  Suzan will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Memorial Services will be held at 12PM (Noon) Friday, January 13^th, 2023, at Rocky Mountain Christian Church at 9447 Niwot Road, Niwot, CO 80503.  Reception to be held at the church immediately following the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations to either Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org/co or Dementia Success Path at https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=ADWMJCGSYNQJW
