Obituary of Jose Richard Gasca

Jose Richard Gasca (Rico), age 86, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. Rico was born December 14, 1936, in Greeley, co to Lupe Gasca. Rico was one of six children. Rico graduated and enlisted into the Marine cops in 1958, where he faithfully served in two tours in Vietnam and retired in 1981 with two purple hearts and as a Sgt Mjr.

Rico and Maria D C Hernandez married on Jan 16^th, 1961 and had three children. Rico and Maria bought land and together built the well-known Mexican Inn, as it stands today as a staple in the Loveland community. Rico and Mary ran this beloved family business well into their 70’s and they shared a devoted love and passion for the restaurant and the customer they served. Even after retiring Rico continued being very involved in the Mexican Inn, you could visit on a very warm summer day and find him weed whacking the weeds as the stubborn Marine he was, refusing a drink before the job was done, on any given day he could be found inside sorting beans looking to teach the new dishwasher an easier way to do the job or just looking for a familiar face to “shoot the breeze” with,  as he would say.

Rico loved to sing, dance, and karaoke with his friend Bobby Mares he was always enjoying life, as big as his personality.  He loved to cook and make it extra spicy to share with everyone.  He especially loved to drop in at the VFW to catch up with his fellow Veterans and friends.

Rico is survived by, his son Davy and wife Crystal, Daughter Barbara, and son in law Tim. His Grandchildren Shawna, Brendan, Chelsy, Donovan, Denea (Ryan), and Jolene (Tyler). Great-Grandchildren Alyssa, Amaya, Dahlia, and Zylia and Great-Great Grandson Adrian. Brothers, Frank and Ray, and Sisters Shirley and Olga and many nieces and nephews. Rico will be deeply missed by many.

Rico is proceeded in death by his dear friend and lifelong companion Donna, son Pepe, daughter Sylvia, and his sister Rose.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on December 30, 2022, at Viegut Funeral home, 1616 N Lincoln Ave, Loveland Co.

 Celebration of life will be held immediately after the service at the American Legion (VFW) located at 305 S Cleveland Ave, Loveland Co.
