Obituary of Brett Eugene Meismer

Brett Eugene Meismer, 59, passed away October 22, 2022 in his home in Greeley, Colorado from a cardiac event. Brett, the first born to Gerald Eugene and Barbara (Yantis) Meismer, was born October 8, 1963 in Oberlin Kansas. He lived with his parents in Jennings and Dresden Kansas before moving to Loveland Colorado. Brett was joined over the next seven years by his siblings: Lori Ann, Amy Sue, and Matthew Joseph.

Brett attended both Loveland and Thompson Valley High Schools. After high school Brett worked as a ski instructor at Silver Creek before he began his career in home construction. Early in his career he framed homes and later became a superintendent managing the construction of residential homes from excavation through final inspection. He was associated with several construction companies in northern Colorado. He built his own home in Greeley and the home of his parents in Keystone, Nebraska.

In March of 1992 Brett married Tina Ward and had two children; Jacob Eugene in 1995 and Zachary Joseph in 1998, his family was the light of his life.

Brett enjoyed wrestling, hunting, fishing, skiing, camping, photography and music. Brett’s siblings & families camping at Lake McConaughy was always an event that Brett looked forward to.  When his boys were young, he loved taking pictures of their various sporting activities. He and Jake had just finished antelope hunting a few weeks before his passing. Brett loved music and was recently learning to play guitar. He was a lifelong fan of Nebraska football, NASCAR Racing and for the past several years a fan of Nebraska Women’s Volleyball.

He was an incredibly bright person and generally excellent at anything he started. He was also extremely artistic and used his artistic eye in every aspect of his life. He had a fantastic memory and he loved to tell and share stories. He will be remembered most for his marvelous sense of humor and his love to laugh.

Brett was preceded in death by his Grandparents Norbert and Katherine (Thalken) Meismer and Burl and Betty (Call) Yantis.

Brett is survived by his sons, Jacob and Zachary, his parents Gene and Barbara Meismer, his sisters Lori Spindler (Joe) and Amy Verslues (Greg), his brother Matt (Averill) Meismer, his former wife Tina Meismer and many aunts and uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews. He will be seriously missed by all who knew and loved him.  He was a gift from God to all of us and we had to give him back far too soon.

A life celebration, service and reception, will be held Sunday November 20th, 2022 at 1:30 pm at Windsong Estate Event Center, 2901 Saddler Blvd. Severance, CO 80524
