Obituary of Robert Eugene Smith

Robert Eugene Smith, age 77, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022 in hospice care at Riverbend Rehabilitation Center in Loveland, CO.

He was born October 2, 1944 in Houston, TX to Donald and Evelyn Smith.

Bob is survived by his wife, Deitrah of 53 years; son Scott (Davonne), two grandchildren Jordan and Kayton of Windsor, Colorado; and sister-in-law Rita Archer of Campbell, California.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sharon Smith.

Bob graduated from Cubberley High School in 1963 and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from University of California-Berkeley. He received his Masters Degree in Business Administration from Regis University-Colorado Springs.  He began his career with Ford Motor Company working summers while in college.  During his time with Ford, he worked in Colorado Springs, CO with Microelectronics;  Chihuahua, Mexico with Altec; Charlotte, North Carolina with Aerospace, Dearborn, Michigan with Ford Motor.  He retired after 35 years of service.

Bob was very active on the Board of Directors for River Hills Country Club and served as treasurer for the Marina Club for a number of years.

Bob loved to fish whether fly casting in rivers and streams or trolling from his boat in the lake.  He was also an avid golfer.

Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are being handled by Viegut Funeral Home.  A memorial service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loveland, Colorado on July 28, 2022.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Enduring Hope Campaign at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 1730 W. 12^th Street, Loveland, CO 80537.
