Obituary of Ellen R. Leenerts

Ellen Rae Leenerts passed quietly in the night May 20, 2022 at North Shore Health and Rehab in Loveland, Colorado. The family are grateful for the many visits during her final days.

Ellen was born in Iowa to Agnes and Fay Neal moving to Loveland when she was three to live out her life. She was the youngest of four children. Ellen was married Melvin Pacas and had three daughters, Marcia, Sheryl and Debra.

Ellen worked as an electrical technician at Loveland Hewlett Packard with 37 years of service. Much of her career she was the loving single mother of her young daughters. Ellen and Virgil Leenerts married in 2002. Together they enjoyed big family dinners with their eight adult children. Ellen will be missed by her many grand children and great-grandchildren, who were her joy!

Ellen was a breast cancer survivor and active participant in her local cancer survivors group. Ellen also was very active in her Loveland High School reunion group. Ellen’s favorite past time was gardening. Her special favorite lily was the highlight of her garden. Ellen also enjoyed various forms of painting. Her most recent was exhibited in Estes Park. Ellen’s skills with sewing, learned from her mother Agnes Neal, served her well as she often gave gifts over the years that are always treasured. Ellen was well known for her generosity and kindness.

Ellen is survived by her brother Fay Neal Jr., husband Virgil Leenerts, and daughters Sheryl Humbard and Debra Johnson (Michael) and her step-children Timothy Leenerts (Kristin), Sarah Coyle (Mark), Jay Leenerts (Jacki), Eliana Turner (Anthony) and Kathleen Leenerts (Erik). Ellen is preceded in death by her brother Jim Neal, sister Patty Volker, and daughter Marcia Klingenberg and step-granddaughter Gabriella Leenerts.

Ellen’s memorial service will be held at Viegut Funeral Home June 16, 2022 at 10:00 to be interred at Lakeside Cemetery following.
