Obituary of Priscilla Ann Akers

On the 7th day of May 2022, Priscilla Ann Akers went to spend the rest of eternity with her Lord and Savior.  She is survived by her husband of just over 69 years (Wallace Tildon Akers), sons (Timothy Allen Akers), (Jerrold Wayne Akers (wife Nancy)), (Thomas Perry Akers (wife Laura)), and daughter (Sheryl Ann Sell (husband Frank).  Priscilla had 10 grandchildren (Levi, Leah, and Luke (Sheryl), (Jeremiah, Rebecca, and Johnathon (Tom), and (Elisabeth, Joseph, Stephen, and Nathan (Jerrold/Jerry).  Additionally, 12 great-grandchildren (so far), (Brynlee, Emma, and Noah (Joseph/Joe)), (Ezra (Johnathon), (Anna and Elias (Jeremiah), (Archer and Eleanor (Elisabeth), (Kinsley and SkyeLynn (Luke), (Zara (Levi), and (Abraham (Leah).  Unfortunately, she was preceded in death by granddaughter Rebecca earlier this year in February, her parents (Tony/Bud and Helen Metzler) , and three heavenly babies.

Priscilla was born on November 21st, 1936 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  She grew up as an only child and met her husband on a visit to West Virginia with her family.  They were married on the 2nd of May, 1953.  During the earlier years of their marriage they lived in Michigan and the Chicago, IL area where their four children were born.  In 1964 they moved to Loveland, Colorado.  In 1975 she began serving alongside her husband as missionaries to Alberta, Canada.  Due to health issues they returned to Loveland, Colorado where she lived out the rest of her time here on earth witnessing the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Earlier in her life she enjoyed playing the accordian with a lifetime friend (Carol Draper) who played the marimba.  They and their polka band played for the local Boat and Canoe Club as well as on the local radio station in the Grand Rapids area.  Additionally, she taught accordain playing at the Music Center in Grand Rapids.

In addition to raising a family, Priscilla held a number of different jobs to help support the family.  She spent time as chiropractic receptionist, at Sears-Roebuck, as a switchboard telephone operator, and a period of time as a waitress at various local restaurants.  She finished out her working career and retired from K-Mart in 1995.  She especially enjoyed her time as a switchboard telephone operator.

She enjoyed being a faithful and devoted wife and mother/grandmother/great-grandma and loved her family immensly.  She has been a member of Gateway Baptist Church since 1996 and enjoyed the fellowship she had with her church family.  Some of her favorite activities were reading, playing games, word puzzles, music, crochet, and other activities especially if it involved her family.  She enjoyed music so much that she was unable to pick a favorite song or hymn.  She loved them all.  She also loved watching birds, especially hummingbirds and cardinals.

Her presence will be missed by not only her family but also by her many friends and aquaintances.  However much we will miss her we know that she is now enjoying being in the presence of her Lord and God as well as with those that had preceded her to her heavenly home.
