Deanice Baum

Obituary of Deanice Shirley Baum

Nearly 95 years of dedication, strength, loyalty, devotion, perseverance, and charisma.  95 years full of love, laughter, growth, passion, and commitment to building what is now her Baum family empire.  The 95 years on this earth that most people can only hope for – but that was the 95 years Deanice Shirley Baum fought hard for, and peacefully resigned from on March 28, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

From the moment Deanice entered this world on April 24, 1927 (Wells, Minnesota), she was full of life and full of love that she so graciously shared with those around her.  She married the love of her life, Theodore Baum, on October 29, 1946, in Sauk City, Wisconsin and assumed the role of the farmer’s wife – a role she relished and pridefully embraced with Ted, working side-by-side, day in and day out, morning until night.

This is where the Baum family perseverance was born and Deanice thereafter instilled in her 7 children – Jim (Cheri), Don (Maureen), Anne (David), John (Lorrie), Mary (Rick), Theodore (Sue), and Susan (Mark).  Deanice cherished the time she spent on the farm in Wisconsin with her husband and children, tending to the animals, cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, knitting, gardening, keeping the house, and imparting her hard work, dedication, and commitment onto her children.

After 24 years on the farm, Deanice and her family moved to Colorado in 1970 where she continued to build her family legacy for her remaining 52 years.  Deanice became heavily involved in Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Parish in Loveland, Colorado where she dedicated her time to the Sweethearts of the Knights, CCW, prayer groups, Weavers Guild, card clubs, Knights Sunday Breakfast Team, and other fundraising events.  As a devout Catholic, Deanice selflessly dedicated her time to the church and countless community service organizations including the Soup Kitchen, Meals on Wheels, Violet Club, organizations that sent hand-knit and sewed outfits to children overseas, and many others.  She was a light in the St. John’s community and her light will continue to shine bright for generations to come.

Deanice will forever be known as a devout wife, loving mother, caring friend, generous neighbor, and the greatest grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She enjoyed spending time with her family playing cards, canning peaches, hosting dinners, and especially loved babysitting her grandchildren and rocking her great grandchildren.  Deanice took great pride in the life and family she built – a true salt of the earth family.  A true matriarch that built the family.  And her legacy will live on.

Deanice is survived by her 2 sisters Joyce and Mitzi; 7 children; 12 grandchildren, Amber, Andrea, Eric, Donny, Sarah, Lucas, Jonathon, Matt, Ryan, Jessica, Heather, and Seth; 7 great grandchildren, Riese, Rylee, Dalton, Dylan, Mason, Theo, and Colson; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Her passing is preceded by her husband Ted, her son Charles, her parents Francis and Gus Quade, and her brothers Ray, Dick, Bill, and Gus.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Visiting Angels, New Mercer Commons Assisted Living, North Shore Rehab, Pathways Hospice, and all the facilities’ staff for caring for Deanice with love, respect, and dignity.  She spoke highly of you all and the family will forever be grateful for your love and support through these difficult times.

Deanice’s life will be celebrated on April 25, 2022, at St. John's Catholic Church in Loveland with Rosary starting at 10:00am and Service starting at 10:30am.  Deanice’s Service will immediately be followed by a Luncheon at St. John's Social Center.  Deanice’s Graveside Burial Service will be hosted on April 26, 2022 at 10:00am at City of Loveland Burial Park (West Side).

Your gracious donations, whether monetary or volunteering your time, may be made in remembrance and honor of Deanice Baum to any charity of your choice, or Pathways Hospice.
