Obituary of Stuart Ross Donnenfeld

Stuart Ross Donnenfeld, a man whose heart was filled with kindness and compassion passed away on March 9, 2022.

Stu filled many roles in this life, son, father, husband, Pop Pop (his favorite role), brother, brother-in-law, uncle, friend, nurse, volunteer, and caring neighbor.

The son of Dee Donnenfeld and Peggy Udry and stepson of Pauline Donnenfeld, he grew up up amongst a pack of friends in Levittown Long Island where he would play hockey at the “sump’, go to the various village greens, play the trumpet and hang with friends. Following high school, he headed west.  After living in Colorado and becoming a father to Zachary and Jeremy, he and Belinda moved to Scituate where he could be back near the ocean he loved.  Stu felt most at peace when he was near the water. He loved taking walks with his oversized dogs and driving them around in the back of his convertible. He and his dogs graced the cover of the Mariner and were the subject of many amateur photographers as they were quite the sight to behold. Once in New England, Stu pursued his passion to help people and became a nurse, graduating near the top of the class at Northeastern University.  He specialized in wound care and visited patients in their homes with an unsurpassed dedication.  He volunteered in Haiti and the time spent there was especially meaningful to him and created lasting friendships.  When not working he loved to fish, play hockey, watch his sons and nephews compete in sports and spend time with his family and many friends.

He leaves behind his sons Zachary and Jeremy, five (soon to be six) grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, Jessica who was a daughter to him, his sisters and brothers-in-law and many cousins. He also leaves his precious companion Smokey, who will be in the caring hands of Belinda. Stu was greatly loved and is deeply missed. Following a private burial, a celebration of his life will be held this summer on Peggoty Beach, a place that was near and dear to his heart.
