Obituary of Jane Marie Shomers

Jane Marie (Putnam) Shomers was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who dedicated her life to her family and community. She passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on Friday, January 28, 2022.

Born on August 14, 1941, Jane was raised in Niagra Falls, New York, the loving daughter of James and Margaret Putnam and sister to Ruth, John and Bill. She met her devoted husband of 62 years, Roger Shomers, while in New York, and the two moved to Loveland, Colorado in 1972. While raising her five children and helping to care for her 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren in Loveland, Jane was always willing to open her home and heart to others. Over the years, she became a surrogate mother and grandmother to many in the Loveland area; and she instilled her kindness, strength and generosity within all who were blessed to have her in their lives.

Jane also worked for many years in the Thompson School District, and this gave her even more opportunities to help and be of service to children. When she wasn’t caring for others, Jane loved to read, quilt and sew, and she shared her beautiful dolls, quilts and other creations with family and friends.

Jane is survived by her husband Roger and five children: Susan (Kevin) Miller of Loveland; Sherri (Mike) Shackelford of Kingman, Arizona; Dan (Stacy) Shomers of Littleton, Colorado; Mike (Cheri) Shomers of Loveland; and Jennifer McCrory of Loveland. She is also survived by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her siblings Ruth Schrimmel, John (Wanda) Putnam, and Bill Putnam.

The family is holding a private service to honor and remember Jane. In lieu of flowers, they request donations be made to Foothills Gateway or any other organization supporting individuals with disabilities.
