Obituary of Herman Raymond Kahler

Herman Raymond Kahler, 83, of Johnston, Colorado went home to Jesus Friday, January 14, 2022.  Herman was born, at home, September 18, 1938 in Burke, South Dakota to Gus and Adeline Kahler.  He grew-up in a large, close-knit family.

Herman was a devoted husband and a loving father and grandfather.  He loved being with his family, and his brothers and sisters.  He enjoyed playing card games, especially Pitch and Peg It.  Herman was a genuine person and he made friends easily.

Herman met the love of his life Donna when his family moved off the farm into town.  Herman and Donna were married February 16, 1958, and lived in Golden, Colorado after their wedding.  They were married for more than 63 years, and their marriage was a true reflection of a strong Christian Marriage.  They had 6 children beginning in 1958 with the last one being born in 1970.  During their marriage they lived in Golden, Loveland, Lakewood, Wheatridge, Greeley and Johnstown, Colorado.

Herman loved selling.  He first sold for Fuller Brush Co., then later moved on to sell Kirby Vacuums for more than 20 years.  He also sold a fuel additive for American Professional Marketing.  His last job was his favorite, working at Auto Nation for more than 20 years.

Herman was preceded in death by his parents Gus and Adeline Kahler, brother Art (Alma) Kahler, sister Lila (Lawrence) Crooks, brother Alvin (Dorothy) Kahler, sister Etta (Orville) Delany, brother Ralph (Loretta) Kahler, brother-in-law Mervin Harter, and brother-in-law Bob Zimbelman.

Herman is survived by his wife Donna Kahler, sister Doris (Harry) Steinke, sister Esther Harter, sister Velma Zimbelman, brother Robert (Carol) Kahler, son Geoff (Trish) Kahler, son Garth (Audrey) Kahler, son Richard (Shawna) Kahler, daughter Caroline (Richard) Kenny, son Keith Kahler, son Dennis (Doris) Kahler, 20 Grandchildren, 8 Great-Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at Faith Church, 3920 S Shield Street, Fort Collins, CO 80526 on Monday, January 31, 2022, at 10 AM.  If you would like to send flowers, please have delivery to Faith Church by 9:00 AM on January 31st.
