Obituary of Gene Autry Goens

Gene Autry Goens born 9/29/1937 died 12/26/2021 at the age of 84 by natural causes in his home in Loveland, CO. Born in Alabama Gene lived all over the United States. An honorably discharged United States Air Force Veteran and life long and Retired Employee of United Airlines. Gene was a simple, hard working man who dearly loved his wife Sandra of eight years. Gene can be summed up by the four "F's". Faith, Family, Friendship and Football! Gene was a humble man of Faith. Which he displayed for all with a gift of compassion & kindness that everyone could see! A man who deeply loved and was devoted to his Family. He was protective & vocally proud of his family. He is survived by his wife Sandra Carstensen Goens, of Loveland, CO. Beloved Daughter Regina Sanders, Loveland CO. 4 Grandchildren - Bailey, Morgan, Jakob & Joshua plus 2 Great Grandchildren - Jayden & Theo. Brothers - Ernest Goens (Joann) of Tennessee, Thomas Goens (Pat) of Alabama, Ronnie Goens (Pati) of New Mexico. Sister - Linda Bonner of Alabama. A host of Nieces, Nephews, Stepchildren, Step Grandchildren & Step Great Grandchildren. He preceded in death by his parents William Floyd Goens Sr. & Lillian Goens, brothers Curnell Goens & William Floyd Goens Jr. Friendship was the third of his four "F's". Once a friend always a lifelong friend of Gene's. He would give the shirt off his back for a friend without hesitation! Gene's final "F" was his fierce and forever love of Football! Born and rooted in Alabama, the red soil from his home state stained his white jersey CRIMSON as he entered the gates of heaven shouting "Roll Tide"!!! Gene's wishes were to be cremated and laid to rest in Albertsville, Alabama surrounded by family and friends. A celebration of his life and graveside service tentatively set for the summer of 2022.
