Obituary of Michael Frederick Hurst

Mike Hurst passed away in Loveland, CO on November 29, 2021, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was only 38 years old. Mike was born and raised in East Wenatchee, WA. He earned a degree in Civil Engineering from Washington State University, where he met the love of his life, Jenny. Mike was an accomplished Professional Civil Engineer holding several management positions for the Federal Highway Administration and the Western Area Power Administration. Mike was an amazing person who truly lived life to the fullest. He was a loving husband, and an outstanding father to his two young sons. He was adventurous and loved spending time outdoors, whether it was hiking, mountain biking, snowboarding, hunting, fishing or camping. Mike did it all and excelled at anything he took on, both in work and play. He embraced every adventure to the fullest, right up until the end. Mike was a genuine and thoughtful person who truly cared about others. He was easy to be around with his lack of ego, his sharp mind, his kind nature, and his quick wit. He loved to laugh and his zest for life was infectious. He will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him and have him in their lives. He is survived by his wife Jenny, his two young sons Hudson (4) and Banks (1), his parents Fred and Linda Hurst, his brother Jesse Hurst and his family, and the numerous friends and family who will always feel his presence. A celebration of life to honor Mike will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a fund set up to help support his young family.
