I'll try this again...I wrote this last night but I see that it didn't make it onto the memory wall. I met Bob back in the 1970s when his son Phil married my cousin, Mary Bublitz, and when my family owned Sunny Jim's Candies, Bob would come in often to satisfy his sweet tooth and converse with my dad and mom as well as myself. In the late 1980s, I was a lector at St. Johns and Bob had just been ordained as a deacon. There were many masses that both Bob and I were a part of, but one stands out in my mind. It was Father Frank's last mass...sometime in the early 1990s and I was the lector and Bob was the deacon alongside Father Frank. Back in the day, the lectors not only read the readings and led the responsorial psalms, but we also read the announcements at the end of mass. That is where I got to improvise a bit...probably to the chagrin of the priest officiating the mass. Now, if anyone remembers Father Frank, he was not the most personable individual, but because it was his last mass, I wanted to say something memorable. So after the weekly announcements were read, I proclaimed that with Father Frank, Deacon Bob, and myself that were so "follicle-challenged," (we were bald or getting there...getting there in my case, but I have since passed them all) that it would be the final mass led by the guys with the "high foreheads." I apologized to the congregation if the glare made it difficult for them to see, and needless to say, everyone laughed...I think even Father Frank cracked a smile. Bob had a great sense of humor and was always willing to lend an ear...he was always so sincerely interested in what I was up to...whether it was college or my first years teaching, he wanted to know how everything was going. I was a lector at St. Johns until I left for that teaching job in 1997, but I would always come back to usher once in a while and look to see if Bob was there so I could say "Hi." He would do anything for you, and that is what made him such a good deacon. Before covid, Jan Erickson would take Bob and my mom to church on Sundays, and like my mom commented the other day, "He was truly a servant of God." I am truly saddened by his passing and my thoughts and prayers go out to Phil, Mary, Heather, Troy and their families. I know that if anyone has a fast track to heaven, it is Bob Haigh.

Deacon Bob is sorely missed. He was a spiritual advisor to our family in a time when our children were growing and needed a loving, gentle reminder of God's love for them, as Bob used to provide. He was a friend to our family, especially to Keith in our weekly breakfast meetings with the faith loving men of St. John's. His words of wisdom, courage and mercy were a rock upon which Keith could live each and every day, and his friendship was always sought. Keith had promoted Bob to Monsignor around 2010 because he deserved it, and Keith always referred to Bob as Monsignor from that point on. Our family received and offered much love because of Bob. He is missed. May God Bless Bob throughout eternity.

My name is Tom Pape. I knew Bob Haigh for quite a long time. His son married my cousin, Mary Bublitz in the late 1970s and while my parents owned Sunny Jim's Candies in Loveland, Bob would make frequent trips to the candy store...so needless to say, I got to know Bob and his sweet tooth from the time I was in my late teens and early twenties. In the late 1980s, I was a lector at St. Johns during the time Bob had been ordained as a deacon. Bob was so easy to talk to and joke around with...I really enjoyed talking to Bob about the candy store and then later when I was attending college to become a teacher. He was always lending an ear and was always eager to know how my life was progressing...I appreciated his sincerity and his sense of humor. Case in point: I was reading at 9:00am mass with Deacon Bob and Father Frank way back in the early nineties, and it was Father Frank's last mass...he was leaving....and if anyone remembers Father Frank, he was not the most personable and humorous person on the planet. Well, back then lectors not only did the readings and the responsorial psalms, but we also read the announcements at the end...that is where I always liked to improvise a little. So, when it came time at the end of mass to tell everyone what was going on for the coming week, I did that, and at its conclusion, I commented that with Father Frank, Deacon Bob, and myself at the same mass (and all of us a little hair follicle-challenged...especially Father Frank, but let's face it...I have caught up and passed them all), I announced that it was the last mass of the trio of the high foreheads and proceeded to apologize to the congregation if the glare was a little too much. Everyone laughed, Bob thought it was pretty funny, and I think Father Frank even cracked a smile. I ended my time as a lector when I got my first teaching job in 1997 and moved to southeast Colorado. But each time I would make it back and would run into Bob, we would have a pleasant conversation and would catch up...whether it was at church or at a family reunion. I just want to say what a great guy Bob was, and that he had such a positive impact on the community...his Saint John's community and his family and his neighborhood. Like my mom said...and she was fortunate enough to attend church with him for a few years before Covid...that he "truly was a servant of God." I just want to say that my thoughts and prayers are with his family, and may he rest in peace. Bob Haigh's life was truly one that was well lived and he will be missed.

Deacon Bob, you were/are a good man...a man that was there for his blood and religious life family!
Your faith was so strong and to me never seemed shaken, a faith many strive to have.
I loved your homilies and how you applied the biblical readings to today's world.
I will never forget when Paul was serving his 2nd Mass and passed out.... you said " fir a skinny kid, he's heavy".
I know you both worked for the dealership and would talk....Paul would tell us...Deacon Bob had a very interesting conversation.
Phil and Mary take comfort that Bob was loved very much

Bob, or Grandpa Bob as many knew him was a wonderful man. I recall at every family gathering how he would inquire about my work and my business travels. He really cared and wanted to know about what was happening. I also think of Thanksgiving. He and I were in charge of gravy! It was always a fun task, especially when we accomplished, "no lump" gravy.
Bob so loved his kids, grandkids, the princess and the prince, and his two precious great grandkids. They are truly his legacy!
Bravo, Bob, to a life well lived!

Deacon Bob baptized Greg and my granddaughter Whitney at the same time. They were unruly toddlers but he was so patient with them! We were grateful for him and his kind heart and love for God. ❤️

Our family loved our chats w Deacon Bob most often at Knights of Columbus breakfast. We shared Iowa roots and family from the same town. He loved the kids and always remembered their names and what was going on with them. I was always impressed with how sharp he was, his humor, his bond with kids, and that ever present welcoming smile. He was a special man and will be missed, but know he is celebrating in Heaven and will be looking down on all of his SJ family.
