Obituary of Donald Arthur Gowen

Donald Arthur Gowen passed away peacefully at home November 25, 2021, from COVID-19 complications. He was born August 13, 1930, in Yuma, Colorado, to Bertha Moran Gowen and Henry Thomas Gowen. The family moved to Loveland, Colorado, in 1947, where don graduated from Loveland High School in the Class of 1949.He and his wife of 72 years, Rose Blackford Gowen, were married September 18, 1949. Don retired from US West in 1990 after 36 years of service with the telephone company. He is survived by his wife Rose, daughter Donna (Sid) Axelson, grandsons Brian Roerig (Danielle Lewis), Andrew Roerig (Katie) and Thomas Kent (Jessica Cole), step-granddaughters Andra Axelson and Jocelyn Axelson, great-grandchildren Brian (BJ) Roerig, Rachel Roerig, Zeke Kent, Ki Kent, and Noa Rose Kent, sister Laura Dellinger, brother Gerald (Claudia) Gowen, and sister-in-law Betty Lynum. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and son David Wayne Gowen. Don was a member of Faith Evangelical Church, a charter member of the Loveland Golden K Kiwanis, a life member of Loveland BPOElks and was an active community volunteer in his retirement years. The family will gather at the Gowen home on Saturday, December 4, 2021, to honor Dons memory. Memorial contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice, 305 Carpenter Road, Fort Collins, CO 80525.
