Obituary of Carol Ann Cross

On November 20, 2021, Carol Ann Cross, was called home to be with the Lord at the age of 75. Carol was born on November 20, 1946 in Denver Colorado to Wesley and Ann Bates. Early in life, she moved to Grand Junction where she graduated high school. She received a Bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University in speech therapy and taught at the Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind. She married Larry Ouret in June of 1967 and they settled in Loveland to raise their children, Travis and Aimee . They were married 20 years before divorcing. Later in life, she worked for the Department of the Interior at Rocky Mountain National Park. She retired from the Park Service in 2008. Carol is survived by her son, Travis (Lea Ann) and daughter , Aimee Hinton (Mark) and her 4 grandchildren, Grace, Molly, Emily and Lily. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Wesley and Ann Bates, her siblings, Chuck, Nancy and Steve. Carol had a wide range of passions and skills. She was an accomplished seamstress and did beautiful needlework. She always had some type of yarn, crochet thread or fabric in her hands. She belonged to the Rocky Mountain Wanderers and completed 5K-10K hikes in almost all 50 states and Canada. Carol had a servants heart and wanted to serve and give to others. She was part of a baby blanket ministry that provided baby blankets to Children's Hospital, went on a mission trip to Guatemala with her church, volunteered for numerous organizations including the Soup Kitchen in Loveland. She had a very strong faith in God that carried her through the most difficult times in her life, including the progressive loss of her vision. She never met a stranger and was quick with a smile, laugh or hug to those around her. Carol’s Celebration of Life will be Saturday, December 11th at 11:00 a.m., at Viegut Funeral Home, 1616 N.
