Lanny Roy Strohman, 76 years old, of Fort Collins Colorado, went praising and rejoicing to heaven Wednesday morning Nov. 10th. He leaves behind his sweet loving wife, Judi, of 56 years of marriage, as well as his daughter Heather and son-in-law Dave and their two sons Josh and Caleb, along with his daughter Hannah and her two children Stormie and Gage. Lanny was born to Dave and Mable Strohman on June 30th, 1945 at Porter Hospital in Denver Colorado. Lanny and his 5 siblings; Nancy Rae, Terry Wayne(who died at birth), Rex David(who preceded him in death), Keith Allan and Randall Dean, lived in Englewood, Colorado. After graduating from Englewood High School, Lanny moved to California to attend Biola University where he met Judith Ann Lorenz. Lanny and Judi were married August, 7th, 1965 at Van Nuys First Baptist Church. Lanny gave his life to Jesus at 5 years old at First Christian Church, in Englewood Colorado during a Sunday service. For the next 71 years the foundation of Lanny’s life was built solidly on the Rock of Ages. As a salesman at JC Penney while even though he learned he wasn’t meant for sales, he was able to gift his brother Keith with a sweet .22 rifle. As a coach he molded a young group of bench warmers into trophy winning hard working boys. While a history and astronomy teacher at Englewood High School Lanny picked up the game of darts and enjoyed competing with his fellow teachers in weekly tournaments. As a youth pastor at First Christian Church Lanny led mission trips and choir trips to places like Canada and Mexico. While the Pastor of New Hope Church in Joes, Colorado Lanny made lifelong friends and found he loved the country. While working in the accounting office at Furniture Row he worked alongside both his wife and oldest daughter, and developed the fastest 10 key fingers. Finally, he was recognized as a canvas dealer and camel jockey shortly before he was he was in the Navy (tall tales he told his youngest daughter). In retirement Lanny and Judi returned to the country where they lived in an old farmhouse on 11 acres with their Australian cattledog, Bandit,. Lanny enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, growing vegetables in their garden, canning and preserving as well as making the best sauerkraut outside of Germany. However, what he enjoyed most was preaching and teaching the Word, and sharing the hope to be found in a relationship with Christ. Lanny and Judi moved to Fort Collins, Colorado to be closer to their children and grandchildren in June of 2021. His body will be laid to rest at Littleton Cemetery. His soul is rejoicing and singing in the presence of his Savior. In his parting words "Hallelujah, Amen!” His memorial service will be Friday November 19th at 9:30am Foundations Church 1380 N Denver Ave Loveland, Colorado. The internment will be at Littleton Cemetery at 1pm.
