Marty Reed posted a condolence

Even though it's been over a year since Aunt Shirley passed away, there is hardly a day that goes by that I do not think about her!
She was always WAY more than an Aunt--really my second Mom in many, MANY ways.
Though she became an Ames by marriage, I believe she knew and loved that whole family as if it was her own. Her hospitality was one of her more impressive trademarks!
Really missing my Aunt Shirley Ames,
More than anything else, I will miss and never forget this gracious, welcoming, inclusive and non-judgemental woman who was truly one - of -a - kind!
My Uncle Bud was a great example to me--such an awesome husband, Dad, Grandpa, big brother to my Mom, Uncle and friend to all he met. I tagged along with him, relentlessly! I wanted to be like him. He was honest, PATIENT, easy to like, transparent ( before it was a "thing"), loved deeply--cheered for me always. I will be forever grateful that he was such a major part of my life.

Bud and Carol Nurse posted a condolence

Bud and Shirley will always be an important part of our lives and were the cornerstones of the Ameslea farm which they allowed us to inherit and enjoy. The Ameslea farm has been a wonderful opportunity to learn and grow as people who have a love for farming with great Holstein cows which Bud had much pride in. We with the background of the herd eventually even got one of the Ameslea farm bulls into A.I. at ABS which Bud was quite proud of knowing. Shirley was a beautiful soul who would be there for the kids and us in her quite ways. She helped with the blending of our families with her compassion and understanding of good times and hard times. We have so many great memories of them both with many laughs and stories that will not be forgotten and they will be missed by many. With love, Bud and Carol Nurse LaFayette, NY
