Obituary of Bruce Allan Munson

Born and raised in Rockford Illinois, graduated from West High School in 1957, joined the Navy on June 24, 1957. He was a soloist in the Navy-Blue Jacket Choir, honorably discharged June 14, 1960. On September 15, 1960, he began his employment at the Rockford plant of Woodward Governor. August 1961, he met Carolyn Schipper while roller skating at a rink. August 1963 they were married. His main interests were signing in the church choir, solo work, and singing in the barber shop choirs. He also was an avid bowler and ping pong player. For their 25th wedding anniversary, Bruce and Skip took a cruise on a paddle wheel boat on the Mississippi river. That excursion led to wanting to cruise internationally to taking six cruises on the same Love Boat that appeared on the TV show and other cruise lines. In all they visited 25 different countries and 19 islands. Bruce is survived by his wife Skip and sons David and Al. Also, by his sister Dorothy Philpot, several nieces and nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Vernetta and 2 sisters Mona and Sue. Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday November 2, 2021, 2pm at Viegut Funeral Home with reception following service at Viegut Reception Center.
